Wellbeing and Support services

The entire university community is here to ensure you thrive and succeed. This includes supporting your mental health, physical health, and your wellbeing.

We have a dedicated, friendly, and professional student support team that you can call upon for help any time.

This page highlights the support you will be able to receive.

Information about opening hours, drop-in sessions, and how to make a support request on our support platform will be shared with you during your induction sessions.

Support and wellbeing

Our Support and Wellbeing Team is the first point of contact for students seeking wellbeing support. Our friendly and approachable team is here to listen and offer practical advice and guidance to help you find the right wellbeing support service.

We also offer free, confidential counselling services for all our students. Talking to a counsellor in a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential setting, can enable you to work through your problems with the aim of reaching a solution.

Disability and dyslexia support

Our friendly and dedicated disability support and advice team is here to help and support you throughout your time at university, including help with applications for disability funding support through the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA).

We will work with you to make the University aware of any disabilities and health conditions, such as any long-term physical or mental health conditions, as well as discuss potential additional support needs, and how that support can be put in place and accessed.

Financial support

Affordability has always been something that has been a key issue for students at university, but with the current cost of living crisis we know that things are extra difficult.

Our dedicated and friendly Student Funding and Advice team is here to help and support you throughout your time at university. We can provide information to help you make informed decisions about your finances.

  • Helping to ensure that you maximise your student funding entitlement.
  • Help to resolve any complex funding issues.
  • Provide support for those who find themselves in financial hardship.
  • Budgeting and money management.

Email our Student Finance team at studentfinance@norwichuni.ac.uk for assistance.

Medical and health services

The National Health Service (NHS) provides health services in the UK, and all students are entitled to treatment from the NHS, including Tier 4 visa holders who will have paid IHS fees as part of the immigration process.

We strongly encourage you to register with a local doctor as soon as you start your studies with us. This helps to make sure that you can see a doctor quickly if you fall ill or need routine medical care during your course.
