Graphics students win second place in Dragon Rouge Firestarters Competition 2022
Reiss Tozer, Ben Mountford and Iona Dowds, win second place in Dragon Rouge Firestarters Competition 2022.
The annual competition set by agency Dragon Rouge invites creative students across the UK to respond to one of three briefs.

Third-year BA (Hons) Graphic Communication students Reiss Tozer and Ben Mountford, and third-year BA (Hons) Graphic Design student Iona Dowds won second place with their campaign on overfishing.
The trio’s project ‘nChips’ encourages the nation to ditch the fish for vegan alternatives whilst raising awareness of the damage overfishing does to our oceans.
Creative agency Dragon Rouge asked entrants to respond to one of three briefs. Reiss, Iona and Ben chose the brief focusing on sustainability and green causes. Their main task was to ‘think about how to reinvent the visual codes and add urgency and excitement to the subject’.

Looking back at traditionally wrapped fish and chips, the group developed newspaper packaging design. Printed on the newspaper are multiple articles on overfishing printed on the newspaper, presented in short, digestible amounts. The paper is designed to show a piece of information at each angle, no matter how it’s wrapped.
The group then extended the brand to chip van graphics, stickers as well as motion graphic assets for social media.
Reiss, Iona and Ben win a month’s paid internship at Dragon Rouge and a National Art Pass.
