Welcoming the delegation to Norwich, Vice-Chancellor Professor Ben Stopher reflected on his visit to Jilin University of the Arts in 2024.
Professor Stopher said:
“It was a great privilege to welcome President Li and his senior colleagues from Jilin University of the Arts to Norwich. When I visited Jilin in 2024, I was deeply impressed by the scale and quality of the university’s facilities, the ambition of its vision and the outstanding environment it has created for students and staff. It is one of the most impressive specialist arts campuses I have visited in China, and I returned to Norwich convinced that there was tremendous potential for collaboration between our institutions.”
Founded in 1946, Jilin University of the Arts is recognised as the only comprehensive higher arts academy in Northeast China. Its academic portfolio spans fine art, design, music, drama, dance and digital media, supported by six national research and creative platforms. The university is widely regarded as a leading institution within China’s arts education sector.
Highlighting the significance of the new agreement, Professor Stopher said:
“Today, as we sign our Memorandum of Understanding, we lay the foundations for a partnership built on shared values, mutual respect and a common commitment to international engagement. This agreement represents more than a formal document. It marks the beginning of a relationship through which our students and staff can learn from one another, exchange ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration in education, research and cultural exchange.”
