MA Performing Arts Enterprise is aimed at graduates and mid-career artists whose aspirations extend beyond performing and wish to develop as producers, entrepreneurs and creative leaders.
The course will function as an incubator for those early-mid career artists who choose to study with us, nurturing and supporting their career vision.
This course has been developed as a response to the changing landscape of the performing arts ecology and to support the next generation of the creative workforce.
Course content
You will undertake five units:
- Research into Practice
- Creative and Cultural Ecology
- Diversifying Practice
- Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
- Masters Project.
Through these units you will explore the business and enterprise elements of your particular areas of interest such as – artform specialisms, delivery channels (eg festivals, site-specific work, small scale venues) or specific audiences.
The course is a combination of taught elements, independent study and a substantial Master’s Project.
The assessments you will encounter on your course will be varied to enable you to experience and adapt to different assessment styles.
Assessed tasks will include:
- Group and individual presentations
- Prepared individual tutorials
- Essays
- Critical evaluations
- Reflective journals
- Research reports or project briefs.
Facilities
Teaching will occur on our campus and nearby at performance arts venue, The Garage. Access to the Norwich University library, access to Norwich MA base room, local postgraduate community, discounted studio hire, half-price classes on The Garage class programme.
All courses run as a blend of on-campus and digital teaching and learning, and follow current UK government safety advice. Applicants and students will be notified directly if any changes need to be made.
