If I leave the UK after I have submitted my final assessment can I return for my graduation ceremony?

If you are outside the UK and no longer have a valid Student visa, you may need to apply for a Standard Visitor visa. You can check if you need to apply for a visa or electronic travel authorisation (ETA) before travelling to the UK by using this online tool:

Check if you need a UK visa – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

If you are outside the UK and your Student visa is still valid, you can use it to return to the UK for your graduation ceremony providing that you will leave the UK or make an eligible application for new immigration permission before it expires.

You will need to ensure that the UK Border Agent is satisfied that you will leave or apply to extend your immigration permission before your Student visa ends and should carry appropriate evidence in your hand luggage when you travel. You may wish to consider having a return ticket available or evidence of your eligibility for a new visa application and the funds required to apply.
