Eleanor Watters

Eleanor’s student facing responsibilities range from designing and delivering technical sessions and technical demonstrations to year ones as well as offering one-to-one technical support for students from all year groups. She prepares and delivers extra technical workshops on an optional basis to both fashion students and students of different disciplines within the university

I joined Norwich University of the Arts in 2019 after twelve years of working in industry. My experience lies mainly in pattern cutting: cutting predominantly for womenswear but also menswear and childrenswear.  My employment history spans across luxury, high street and couture brands working with a wide range of fabric types. During this time, I also worked as a machinist and took extra courses in historical garment construction.

I am a skilled machinist and can assist students with using all our specialist machinery such as overlockers, cover seamer, our two buttonhole machines as well as our lockstitch machines. I have experience of using pattern cutting software and have training in CLO3d.

I like to draw from my vast experience when supporting the students. I particularly excel at problem solving in pattern cutting and working towards a great fit of the garment. I have strengths in foundation wear such as corsetry after years of working in the made to measure bridal sector.
