As a lecturer in photography, Katy has worked with students across all years of the Photography BA course, including Year 0. Her industry experience working on national and international photographic shoots as a first assistant and freelance photographer underpins her approach to teaching, encouraging creative confidence, lateral thinking and creative risk taking.

My current practice-based research examines the anthropocentric gaze and animal as ‘other’, applying the conventions of portraiture to non-human subjects to question the complex and often contradictory relationship humans have to other animals.  My work often utilises alternative processes with a current interest in the materiality of photography and sustainable working practices.
