BA Illustration Lecturer commissioned for war poetry book

The book commemorates the centenary of Wilfred Owen’s death.

BA (Hons) Illustration Lecturer Neil Bousfield has created a series of beautiful illustrations for the limited edition book ‘Wilfred Owen: Selected Poems’.

The book, produced for The Folio Society, pays tribute to the death of revered war poet Wilfred Owen, and features 42 poems that are accompanied by original artwork created by Neil. Through his work, Neil explores the trench networks and aims to convey the true terror of war, emphasised through the gritty medium of printmaking.

“When the centenary of the First World War was approaching I knew I wanted to make something that marked the event which we should never forget” he said.

“I hope the work I have made in some way helps to mark the event, the war, Wilfred Owen and the tragic loss of life.”

The book was featured on It’s Nice That in October 2018.
