Global Game Jam Online 2021
Students and graduates from across BA (Hons) Games Art and Design and BSc (Hons) Games Development took part in the Global Game Jam 2021, creating games together virtually in 48hrs.
The Global Game Jam is the world’s largest game creation event, and sees teams from around the globe work work to create games to a theme within 48hrs. In 2021, the Global Game Jam went online and set a theme of Lost and Found.
A mix of BA (Hons) Games Art and Design and BSc (Hons) Games Development students and graduates took part this year. Teams varying in size from 1 – 11 designed, developed, created and tested 14 games across the event.
BA (Hons) Games Art and Design lecturer and MA Games subject leader George Beard organised the event for NUA students and graduates.
He commented about this year’s event, “I was very impressed and proud of the students this year. Working from home is tough and even though gamers are generally more comfortable with online communication, they really banded together to create the games jam atmosphere and supported one another.”
