Graham Rawle, 1955 – 2024
Yesterday, Professor Hilary Carlisle attended a memorial for the life and work of the remarkable author, collage artist and designer Graham Rawle, who was an Honorary Doctor and a Visiting Professor at the University.
Many of you will know of Graham’s brilliant work and colleagues here and across the sector held him in high regard and with huge affection. As an Honorary Doctor and Visiting Professor, Graham was exceptionally creative and generous with his time and spirit with staff and students alike, and his talks and workshops were legendary and awe-inspiring for our community.
Colleagues often mention how amazingly humble he was, interested in everyone and everything, and able to motivate our students to find their own path and enjoy every minute. His astute sense of humour was a joy to many, along with his ability to see the unexpected or unintended meaning in the world around him.
Graham shared so much with the University and will be much missed at Norwich.
