Dr Rob Hiller, who lectures across our four undergraduate graphics courses and is subject leader for MA Communication Design, has been featured by MadeAtUni as part of their ‘Helping people enjoy life’ campaign for his typeface ‘Sylexiad‘ which he designed to be dyslexia friendly.

The campaign aims to highlight the work that multiple universities do delivering projects to help improve people’s lives and their wellbeing, including putting an end to loneliness and offering mental health support.

As part of his doctoral research, Rob, who is dyslexic himself, designed a family of fonts specifically for adult readers who are dyslexic.

When designing the typeface, Rob went through rounds of testing it against other fonts that were recommended by dyslexia organisations.

The typeface has since been used worldwide by several publishers.
