Length:

Full-time 1 year, part-time 2 years

Innovation of your practice and the development of critically-informed perspectives are the guiding principles of our MA Photography Master’s degree course.

Length:

Full-time 1 year, part-time 2 years

State-of-the-art studios and digital darkrooms will give you freedom to develop a distinctive authorial voice through advanced study of photographic practice.

Theory and practice

While our postgraduate photography course is practice-led, taught components consider contextual and theoretical aspects of photography. From collaboration, aesthetic/anti-aesthetic and technological determinism, to the impact of emerging technologies, you’ll tackle a wide range of topics related to your practice.

You’ll also be encouraged to develop a deep understanding of the professional and commercial contexts for your work, as well as exploring the possibilities for moving image in contemporary photography.

Gain valuable exposure to industry

You’ll be encouraged to develop a strong individual voice within your visual practice throughout the course. Seminars and workshops will encourage you to examine the complex relationship between individual practice and client-led work.

Norwich’s reputation in advertising, fashion and editorial photography, and the University’s links to industry and professional bodies – including the Association of Photographers – present unique opportunities to explore this topic in detail.
