Hollie Cooper wins second prize in the Bradford Textile Society Design Competition 2022

The Bradford Textile Society is the oldest textile society in Britain. They provide a community for textile designers across the UK to network, meet like-minded designers, and hear from inspirational speakers.

Hollie, a recent BA (Hons) Textile Design graduate, wins second place in the annual competition, receiving a £300 cash prize.

A knit specialist, Hollie works with traditional methods and printmaking techniques. Her final project, ‘Self Care Breast Aware’, centres around breast cancer. The project responds to a brief set by Cancer Research UK.

Hollie’s campaign reinforces the importance of checking yourself for breast cancer, taking inspiration from the female form through life drawing and floral imagery.

Hollie created ‘knitted skin’ fabrics, using techniques to develop translucent areas of fabric, highlighting the fragility of the human body.

Her project won second prize in the K1-Knit category of the competition. This category focuses on knitted fabric designs for fashion and interior products.
