As part of the Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust’s International Contemporary Scholars Conference, 9 students from across MA Fine Art, MA Textile Design, MA Photography and MA Communication Design were tasked with helping the delegates and Norwich Research Park scientists to initiate and engage in creative thinking and problem-solving in their discussions.

The collaboration brought together over 100 international scholars and aimed to inspire new ideas around topics such as water security, biodiversity, veganism, soil, methane, drought, anti-biotic resistance, “net-zero carbon” agriculture and ethical issues surrounding food production.

The ideas were presented to the scholars’ peers and politicians.

“I think utilising our innate disposition as artists to criticise society is tantamount to our evolution as a species. Through programs such as the Nuffield Design Sprint, we take further steps towards achieving our highest potential. “

Muhammad Samir Buari, MA Fine Art

These conversations highlight the importance of the relationship between visual communication and scientific research, which the university will continue to nurture in its new vision.
