Student shortlisted in the Royal Society for Arts Design Awards

Third-year BA (Hons) Illustration student Olivia Heseltine has been shortlisted in the global student awards, which celebrates emerging designers.

Founded in 1924, the RSA Student Design Awards is a prestigious global competition which challenges students to think about the role of design in society and how they can use their creativity to tackle pressing social and environmental issues.

Each year, the competition delivers a series of compelling design briefs from partners across a range of industries, informed by real-world social problems and systemic challenges. The competition aims to highlight the power of design as a tool for real change.

Olivia Heseltine, who is a current third-year BA (Hons) Illustration student at NUA, has been shortlisted in the Moving Pictures category for her project “Ambitious Cities”; an animated short illustrating the evolving relationship between cities and nature.

The project highlights the growing concerns for cities to evolve to meet the need for human well-being as well as the health of the planet.
