Gabriela’s project ‘Renewable Tradition’, is inspired by her Polish heritage. During her childhood, Gabriela frequently wore a traditional Polish Cracovian costume for celebrations.
The idea for her project is to create a unique, one-off product that lasts longer than typical fast fashion items.
Gabriela’s work centres on the abundance of colour in the waistcoat, skirt and headpiece of the costume. Each element is heavily decorated with satin embroidery and beadwork inspired by flowers.
The final outcome is a woven shawl created on the hand loom with hand dyed natural, noble yarns – wool and corded silk.
