BA (Hons) Textiles Design student George Richardson, BA (Hons) Fine Art student Rose Willis and BA (Hons) Illustration student Victoria Reeves have all been shortlisted for the award
The Batsford Prize is an annual competition open to students in four categories – Fine Art, Applied Art and Textiles, Illustration and Children’s Illustration. Entrants to this year’s award responded to the theme ‘At Peace’.
28 entries have been shortlisted for the prize, seven for each of the four categories. Congratulations to Norwich students Georgia Richardson, Rose Willis and Victoria Reeves, who have all been shortlisted. See their shortlisted work below.
In the Mountains – Woven textile collection for a ski chalet interior. Inspired by skiing in the Austrian mountains.
Explore BA (Hons) Textile Design
Exposure – Exploring emotional intimacy and vulnerability within relationships, particularly intergender relationships. Using nudity as allegory for the feeling of being exposed to another person, capturing a moment within a relationship by using an immediate painting style and raw canvas.
This Quiet Belonging – This Quiet Belonging is a short form booklet, illustrated without words. The project focuses around the experiences of queer people finding peace and security in domestic spaces, and the quiet beauty of the every day.
