Grad Fest Tour

Tour the Grad Fest 2024 exhibition to see the amazing work of the 2024 Norwich University of the Arts graduating cohort.

An introduction to digital painting for landscapes and portraits

Join Jon Dunleavy, Course Leader for BA (Hons) Animation and BA (Hons) Animation and Visual Effects and Dan Kelby, Lecturer in Animation (2D) for this fun hands on digital drawing session. We will play with painting techniques for composition and colour.

Appropriate for all skill levels. We will make the direct connection between physical media and working in the digital realm, while also considering posing principles which are fundamental across all art forms.

This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Animation, Visual Effects, Illustration, Fine Art, Fashion and Games Art and Design.

Expanded Painting

Join BA (Hons) Fine Art Course Leader, Craig Barber and Senior Lecturer, Desmond Brett, for this hands-on, fun 2D-3D crossover where you will respond to the idea of expanded painting.

You will cross reference materiality of surfaces with painted marks and depiction. From this exercise you will see that paintings don’t have to be flat, static artefacts; they can incorporate sustainable practices such as recycling and bring senses of place, through artefacts incorporated into the surface.

This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Fine Art and Illustration.

Games and Ice-breakers for creative collaboration

Games have long been a part of actor training and are often used for rehearsal warm-ups. Games can break a cycle of over-thinking and self-criticism and put you in the present moment.

They can prepare you for a state of readiness where you are able to work with your instincts and impulses. Games can develop concentration, imagination, and collaborative skills. Many of these transferable skills can be useful for creative collaboration across disciplines. This will be a practical group workshop of fun and games.

This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Acting.

Introduction to Concept Art – Silhouettes and Photobashing

Join BA (Hons) Games Art and Design Lecturers, Kaliegh Branham and Michelle Marham, who will take you through a couple of techniques used in concept art to produce quick idea generation with Adobe photoshop, involving shape and pattern recognition (pareidolia) and actualisation of ideas through photobashing.

This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Games Art and Design.

Pattern, rhythm and form

Join BA (Hons) Textile Design Course Leader, Kate Farley, for this lively and energetic workshop celebrating pattern, colour and rhythm for surface design, taking the artwork into 3D forms to explore conceptual interior contexts.

This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Fashion and Textile Design.

Physical computing in the creative arts

Join Diana Vallverdu, Lecturer for BSc (Hons) Creative Computing and BSc (Hons) Creative Technology for a fun and experimental workshop exploring the potential of using physical computing creatively and have a go at coding your own systems to create spaces that tell a story!

This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Creative Computing.

Stitch, rhythm and form

Join BA (Hons) Textile Design Senior Lecturer, Odette Steele, for this detailed and dynamic workshop exploring the opportunities of form through fabric manipulations and envisaging them in unusual and challenging contexts.

This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Textile Design.
