Find the Architecture and Interior Design Studios
Our RIBA award-winning Boardman House building hosts our Sir John Hurt film studio, drawing studios, model making room, scan and print rooms and laser-cutting room.
Specialist facilities include a CAD lab and computer workstations equipped with a variety of 3D Design and Modelling software including, ArchiCAD, Rhino, Vectorworks, Sketchup and Enscape.
There is also a also model making room for experimentation and fabrication using a variety of materials and traditional model making processes, a digital fabrication area equipped with 3D printers and laser cutting, and a large format print facility for printing designs and plans up to A1.
Students can move into break-out studio spaces to focus on their practice or join in group sessions. The ground floor studio provides a large open plan space which encourages collaborative working.
Boardman House is dominated by a high ceiling with feature skylights and a central bespoke staircase. Original features from the original design of the building’s original architect Edward Boardman combine with contemporary updates to provide an inspirational environment for students.
In April 2016, the building was awarded a RIBA East Award from the Royal Institute of British Architects for its restoration from a Victorian era Sunday School to Norwich University of the Arts’ learning space.
